"Ability to cultivate a steady customer base with State, County and local businesses. Ability to use creativity in display designs and use of communication skills in suggesting engraving on personalized items."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Be positive, think of how to increase sales (upsell or add a personal message to be engraved to items allowing for personalization), think of how to reduce shrink (both in lack of shoplifting & lack of damage to items). Think like the manager and respond as you would expect the manager to WANT a new employee to be."
What don't you like about working at Things Remembered?
"Difficulty in securing reliable part time associates due to low pay scale and last minute hiring for holidays--no built in training hours."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Consider building in training hours in Oct. and late April to allow for trained associates by Christmas and Mother's Day, Father's Day, Graduation & Wedding season sale spikes. Consider a permanent part time sale associate position which allows for benefits even for employees who cannot be offered 35 hrs. or more all 52 weeks per year, to ensure that quality part time associates remain with the company."

"The customers, the sense of accomplishment when someone picks up their gift and you see the joy in their face."

"You have to have good customer service skills and a positive attitude."
What don't you like about working at Things Remembered?
"Sometimes when you work by yourself and you get busy it's a little frusturating. And the paper work and coaching that is expected, but never overlap, so you have to stay longer to get that done."

"Sometimes if you want a lot of paperwork done, give us the hours to do it with."
