"Lack of Accountability"

What do you like about working at Tellabs?

"Average compensation compared to market, although some might have top $ base salary (see next question please.)Average/mediocre coworkers who actually crank out average quality codes (better than Nortel where people are semi-retired.)Average product that actually runs, although won't sell (better than Motorola where product won't even run, thus can't sell.)"

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Ask them does years and years of strong performance review actually mean anything How was review conducted And what's the impact to bonuses, pay raise, or simply job security"

What don't you like about working at Tellabs?

"No transparency even though they claim to be. There are obviously two worlds inside/outside of a tight circle. Once you are in, you get everything without accountability. So stay as close to senior mgmt as you can. If years and years of hard-work and strong review won't get you in, without shoe-shining or boot-licking, it's time for the next move."

Most of my co-workers did not believe most of the reports (either doom and gloom or rose-colored) issued by management, especially up the line. What don't you like about working at Tellabs?

"I worked for a great company that was Acquired by Tellabs. I was told that they would keep me on after my department was outsourced to Mexico which turned out to be a BIG LIE. They were just blowing smoke up my #$$ to make me stay and finish the outsourcing."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Outsourcing by the Private Sector has had a huge negative impact on our economy. I personally lost my job due to outsourcing and had a very hard time getting another one. I know how it feels to deal with the depression and feelings of rejection when you are looking for a job during a lousy economy and a recession. Every day people are losing their jobs to Mexico, China, India, and Malaysia etc. The loss of jobs here has had a negative impact on our consumerism which in turn has affected the World Economy. People without jobs cant buy cars, houses, appliances, or travel. SAVE OUR JOBS IN ORDER TO SAVE YOURS"
