"good only for short term employment"

What don't you like about working at Tellabs?

"for awhile we were always looking over our shoulders, wondering if today was the day we were going to be laid off. Management was very self serving"

Failure Analysis Manager

"Tellabs is a good company that is forced to stretch resources to meet very difficult market conditions."

What do you like about working at Tellabs?

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Expect to work hard and dont expect large saary increases until the telecom market recovers from the 2001 dot-com crash."

What don't you like about working at Tellabs?

"There is an over-riding distrust of upper-level management. Most of my co-workers did not believe most of the reports (either doom and gloom or rose-colored) issued by management, especially up the line. There is still a feeling that information is heavily filtered going up and going down the corporate food chain."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Be more open and forthcoming, especially with bad news."

Consultant

"Great COMPANY."

Senior Engineer

"Tellabs was a great place to work and gain excellent career experience in any field."

Tellabs Employee

"ex-employee"

What do you like about working at Tellabs?

"The work was challenging and at times rewarding. It takes time to find the correct internal resources to accomplish anything. Mainly because only one third of the people or less that work at Tellabs actually work."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Interview. Use that experience to get a better job with a Tellabs competitor. You will ultimately learn more and be rewarded in the long run with more job security and lower levels of stress. I would not recommend Tellabs as a long term employer. Unless you enjoy social and political games and BS versus skills to actually further career growth. Advancement is very limited otherwise."

What don't you like about working at Tellabs?

"Too much politics and favoritism. The politics which are heavy within Tellabs detract from work getting done. Infighting and managers holding grudges or having agendas for there own means is common. You have to watch yourself of kiss backside to survive within the company. It is by no means the company it once was. The business is run more like a social club versus a business."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Management shoud be scaled down. Several managers within the support organization are severely inept and are just there because they have been with the company or are such fowl ups there is now no other place to hide them."
