"Originally, they fought for me and did get me very good projects with good experience."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"1. You will be tested, so no BS. Know your stuff.2. You will be asked to provide three references. When they are contacted by the ignorant staffing people at RHT, some of your references may actually be solicited for business or recruiting by RHT, and the reference check was only an excuse to recruit more bodies or develop more business; it was never intended to be an honest or accurate reference check. In my experiences in dealing with techs around the country, this apparently is a nationwide accepted company practice by RHT. Please prepare your references accordingly for rude and socially backward behavior that lacks all appropriateness and proper business acumen."
What don't you like about working at Robert Half?
"I worked with RHT back in 2006 out of their Stamford office. There was a high turnover. They also set me up to work at a company and then when it fell through after I had made plans to take that assignment, they never followed up, never returned phone calls, and treated me very badly. This was after I had put in a stellar performance for them on two other projects. RHT will ask for three references. When those references are called, RHT will try to recruit those references for IT Jobs even if they are NOT IN THE IT FIELD!!!!!"
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Your IT staffing personnel needs a lot more work in how to talk to and treat people. I have not done this work since 2006-2007; however, at the time, RHT was the firm to stay away from. This was all over the New York metropolitan area. At the time, the saying was that you only work for RHT once, then you never want to go back. Other techs were always advised by techs who had previously worked for RHT to avoid this firm. Perhaps since that time there have been some positive proactive changes. I have also interviewed at RHT at the Park Avenue office with a senior VP for an internal position to work in IT staffing, and she had me spend over $30 on train fare and take a 1.5 hour train ride only to meet with me for 15 minutes and to tell me that what she was doing was having initial meetings to see what candidates looked like, as in physical appearance to see if she liked the way they looked. Then she said she would be calling applicants back in for a second interview if she was interested. My impression of her was that she was very socially ignorant and socially uneducated and very rude, and not too different from the ignorant people I had to deal with in your Stamford, CT office. RHT has alienated many of my friends who are techs. Many are college educated in computer science with a lot of military IT experience and private sector experience. RHT was not doing a very good job with people and had a very bad reputation. RHT was also known for very low pay."
