What do you like about working at State University of New York?

"This was a great place to start and develop a career. It is a micro-community with internal money passing between departments for goods and services. Because it is a teaching hospital, there is a lot of opportunity to work with the state-of-the-art."

"Be honest and ask lots of questions."

What don't you like about working at State University of New York?

"To be fair, what I am about to say seems inevitable. This is a very large, state-run entity, employing thousands of staff, much of it union. In such situations, there seems to be high amounts of bureaucracy, apathy, empire-building, and finger-pointing."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Take note of the voice from below, and hire from within, but do so with caution. Done correctly you will have deep management insight, done improperly and you will have internal cronyism and lethargy."
