"Be prepared to be given a lot of direction that makes no sense ... just make sure you have a smile on your face as your brain does somersaults."
What don't you like about working at Starwood Hotels & Resorts?
"The mid- to upper-level management was clueless. I'll just point to the over-staffing that led to the lay-offs in Nov. of 2008. Sure the economy was tanking, but if you run a lean and mean operation, those painful choices are mitigated."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Listen to your employees questioning why your business needs 15 Business Analysts."
"Top Notch Environment!"
What do you like about working at Starwood Hotels & Resorts?
"What I did like was the culture they fostered there. The people were phenomenal. From top to bottom, it was an exciting place to work. They treat their employees well. This employment was pre-recession so expect cost-cutting to have trimmed the fat on keeping employees happy as much like any other employer, Starwood had to let go a hall of fame cast of players!"
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Be professional! Show them you are subject matter expert for the position you are applying, and make it a conversation, not an interview!"
What don't you like about working at Starwood Hotels & Resorts?
"Every Job has it pitfalls, and Starwood is no different. It is a great place to work, but don't expect to rise through the ranks unless you can turn water into wine! It is the epitome of a good o'le boys club If your in, than your in and congratulations. You have achieved yes man stardom."
