What do you like about working at Startel Wireless?

"I USED to love the job when R&D was run by an engineer. Several years ago it self destructed when its parent company came under criminal investigation by the SEC. Been going down hill ever since."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Don't."

What don't you like about working at Startel Wireless?

"R&D is now run by a finance geek that knows nothing of engineering. Nearly all of the senior people have left for better careers. It's no longer fun."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I have no idea how they can save themselves as they have gone too far down this road. In the last 6 years we've gone from 1000 customers to 150 and still losing them."

What do you like about working at Startel Wireless?

"A lot of nice people. Informal structure. Successes and failures are highly visible"

"Startel's compensation package is woefully inadequate given the workload and daily pressures. Startel has gone through a series of ownership and management upheavals over the past few years, and the dust has yet to settle."

What don't you like about working at Startel Wireless?

"I no longer work there. Startel is under new ownership. After 27 years of faithful service, I was dismissed without a single dime of severance. I am at a difficult time in my life, caring for a terminally-ill spouse. I had hoped that the company I had sacrificed so much for over the years would be there to support me. I was sadly mistaken."
