"Pick a technology or field you like as soon as possible and become the local guru. Don't wait for management to tell you what you're good at!"

"You become bored quickly, you don't get cutting edge technology and you answer to someone who has no experience in IT"

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Hire someone with solid IT experience to become CIO or CTO, don't just fall for someone who knows Microsoft Project as a tool. Involve IT in all business strategy meetings and implement ITIL or Six Sigma or SOME FRAMEWORK."
