"I have been working for Sports Authority for over 10 years. Overall the company is a good company. There has been many operational and managerial changes lately so tensions are a bit higher than usual. The company needs to make major changes if they want to stay competitive on all levels."

"I worked for Sports Authority for 7 years. I had to claw my way up the ladder and was passed over for promotions for employees who didn't have as much experience in the field or time in the company. Once I finally was promoted to management I became a success, to the point of helping other apparel managers with their stores. I wanted to move into the corporate offices and knew that the fastest way to get that was to move to the lone tree location. I thought I was just climbing a ladder, little did I know that I was getting pushed off a plank at the top. I took over a mess. Lazy undisciplined employees who were belittled or insulted rather than written up or coached. In the warehouse I had more products than was possible to display due to aesthetic visual choices that sacrificed back stock and display space. My first direct supervisor washed their hands of my department and the second became instantly as overloaded as I was. In the end I was more or less singled out and fired. When it became clear that I could do nothing to save my job I turned to human resources who in turn completely sided with management before even speaking to me, created a hostile work place by giving me an exact time that I would be terminated, and tried to sabotage any chance I had to file for unemployment."

"I have worked for the Sports Authority for more than 10 years. I really hate working here. The managers don't really care about you. They cut your hours at will. I can go home thinking that I have 30 hours the following week, then I get a phone call telling me that my hours for the following week have been cut to 16 or 5 or even 0.The reason given is poor sales performance the week before. They don't understand that I have bills to pay. There are no sick or personal days, only threats to be fired."
