Spear Power Systems Anonymous Employee
in Grandview, MO

"Spear Power Systems is a start up company but no stranger to the battery storage industry. The CEO is friendly but so much so he gets walked all over. A long time employee located in Europe with a more dominant personality is truely the guy in charge. The company is very disorganized and adding to this chaos they are growing hand over fist more than doubling their employee size and expanding to Europe all within the last 6 months. Communication and workflow is a huge issue and due to that expectations and project completion on a deadline can be very difficult if not impossible. Not only do you often times not know who the person is working next to you because everyone is new but there are several who don’t even know who their direct boss is months in to being employed due to being pulled in so many different directions and areas of the company. Expectations are not clear, ever changing and will depend on who you ask at what time of day, due to the nature of a start up you will be building your department from the ground up. Understand that nothing will be handed to you information or tool wise, you are expected to be a mind reader and if you don’t show a significant amount of success in whatever you were originally hired to do in the first 90 days you will be let go promptly. Be prepared to argue every step of the way with the original handful of employees on staff about change you might need to be successful in your new roll and how to improve the status quo. Multitasking is key to survival because you’ll be wearing multiple hats despite being hired for the one title. This makes it very difficult to reach success in what you were originally asked to preform. Pros to the job are jeans are acceptable everyday. There is no time clock to punch if you are a salaried worker."
