South Dearborn Community School Coorperation Employee Job Reviews in the United States

"Overall I enjoyed the job. However because there was a shortage of drivers I was rushed through training in order to fill the position as soon as possible. According to one of the people who trained me I only got the bare minimum amount of training before they made me start. Because of this I made mistakes, some of which I won't make excuses for, but some of which were because of inadequate experience and extenuating circumstances (such as mechanical failures of the bus). Eventually parents of the children began submitting complaints to the school because of my mistakes. Had I been made aware of these complaints I would have addressed them and rectified them, but this was not the case. In one particular instance I even asked my boss about a mistake I had made and was told, in his own words, "we didn't receive any complaints." This happened near my termination date so either I was lied to, or all complaints were made at the last second. Either way the superintendent pressured my boss into terminating me. I was never asked about any of these complaints, nor was I given a chance to defend myself against these claims (such as claims that I was late, which were due to mechanical malfunctions of the bus, a bus that was in questionable condition to begin with). The superintendent took the approach that would gain him the most approval regardless of the fact that the parents making the complaints were unaware as to the circumstances of these issues. Were it not for the fact that the school had expended resources to train me, I would have taken another bus driving position that not only paid more, but was closer to home at another school. But I stayed loyal to them because I knew they needed me and they had spent the time and money to train me and I thought it would be unfair to just abandon them. Unfortunately to the school's superintendent I was just an expendable annoyance. Now I'm without a job. Hopefully that position at another school is still available..."
