"I worked at sonoco for 6 years during my time there I learned many things about industrial maintenance. I was able to increase my skill set dramatically."
"I work for sonoco plastics in Waynesville as an inspector packer. I package plastic bowls on a trim press in over a 100° temps for 12 hours with 3 half hour paid breaks. Some of the trim presses have air conditioning blowing on you from more than one direction. Some only one air conditioner and some only a fan. They supply cold water to drink if your press is close you can run get some. If it's not you have to wait for one of the supervisors to come out of the air-conditioned office and ask for help. It's very fast paced work most of the employees are friendly and it seems to be a decent place to work at first. Unless you become sick on the job. I became severely dehydrated after telling someone I was nauseous, dizzy and feeling a bit disoriented. I went out to my car. Fell asleep no one checked on me! I was awaken later to be told I was suspended for falling asleep in the parking lot. They don't seem to care I was so sick. They acted like I did something bad. Then they let me drive home in that condition. For a company that's all about safety where was the concern for mine. I don't recommend working here."
"Sonoco Plastics in Union, SC is an excellent operation with a Plant Manager who is people oriented and committed to meeting and exceeding plant objectives. This plant is currently struggling with declining sales due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but customers are slowly returning. If you have an opportunity to join this organization, I would highly encourage you to consider it."
"I have worked for Sonoco for 4 years. The people there are like family!"
"I have work for the company for 2 years. The company is very focused on safety. Overall Sonoco is a great company to work for."
"Well paid, supervisors are laid back, but the chance of getting on first shift takes forever."
"We at Sonoco often joke that it's the safest place on earth but, honestly it is extremely safe and the people that work there all care for one another. Not to speak for Sonoco as a whole but, this plant in particular has terrible management. Everyone that visits our plant from other plants tell us it's not like that anywhere else. They say they care but their actions speak otherwise. We also work A LOT of overtime every week. Overall though I must say this is the best job I have ever had."
