"Solid Landings is on the cusp of bankruptcy and this is not a company you want to work for. The company was founded on an enormous amount of passion and even more luck. High off their initial success, the owners made one fatal mistake - they hired unqualified and overpaid friends as directors and managers. With lack of leadership, the good employees found jobs elsewhere and the quality of client care as well as the company reputation plummeted. To address this issue, the owners hired VPs with the unrealistic expectation that the VPs will teach the friends how to do their jobs. With the increase in salaries and decrease in clients, the company started losing money and they did not have funds to pay the employees. They failed to secure a bank loan so the owners had to tap into their personal reserves, profits from previous years illegally laundered into Swiss bank accounts. The reserves are not going to last forever and the company is losing money even more money despite the on-going layoffs. They laid off all the managers that were not friends and this scared a lot of employees. So now they are discretely firing a few people each day. I was fired because I knew too much and I was asking too many questions. The company is close to shutting down so I was going to lose that job anyways. It is a damn shame because the company did something that made a difference. The moral of the story is, friends should not let friends hire unqualified and overpaid friends."
