"I really wonder if there is such a thing as a competent consultant. I highly doubt anyone with the skills to do otherwise would choose to be a consultant. You have no job security, no idea what you'll be doing, no idea where you'll be doing it, who you'll be doing it for, how long you're going to be anyplace. I had to sign a one year lease on an apartment and got canned after two months."

"Be ready for several hours of interviewing with many people. Expect some on-the-spot problem solving."

"Overly focused on procedures, sometimes at the expense of creativity. It does not have a reputation for innovation."

"Make sure that the policies make sense. Engineers often pay lip service to procedural requirements - that only wastes time without the intended benefit."

"The company treats you as a human being, not an interchangeable resource."
