"I worked at SMC for 3 years. I found it to be a complete dead-end for anybody over 40 years of age. They do not train, promote, or offer any advancement for middle-aged employees. While claiming to promote internal applicants, most jobs are filled with external candidates. There is a great amount of favoritism of friends/buddies--especially for attractive women under 30 years. The workplace is continually struggling with groups of people who slack off, take abusively long breaks and leave their co-workers hanging. Abusive behavior and harassment are ignored and dismissed by management and HR. The best way to work with the team is to be a regular at The Sportsman or VFW, and buy pitchers of beer. This leads to a revolving door of new employees."
