"This is due to economy situation, not the management fault. Directorate is spectacular every beginning of the fiscal year, directorate presents to Senate and DOE the past year success and plans for the coming year projects."

What do you like about working at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory?
"SLAC used to be one of the few primary fundamental research facilities in the world, specializing in high-energy particle physics. In recent years it has shifted to low-energy x-ray physics, with a little bit of astronomy mixed in. SLAC used to have absolutely wonderful people to work with."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Keep your resume up to date."
What don't you like about working at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory?
"SLAC now is mostly a user facility, with much less research being performed by staff at the lab than even 5 years ago. There is still lots of research, but it is no longer fundamental, and it is performed by users from other institutions. Most of the wonderful people to work with have been laid off or retired in the last 5 to 7 years. SLAC used be managed like a national lab and premier research institution, but now it is managed like any other third rate company."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Dial the clock back 20 years. Or even 10."
