"I've worked for Sinclair Broadcast Group for over five years. They have great benefits and they have great management. The location is nice and the building is spacious with a nice roof top."

"Inside sales job that requires a certain number of calls made per day. In a typical day I would make over 80 calls a day. It's a numbers game! The sales team is required to "hit quota" to earn commission on top of salary. If you did not hit quota a couple of months in a row, you could lose your job. Pretty typical for a sales job, though. Relaxed work environment, with ping pong table and staff lounge. "Work hard, play hard" attitude. Highly competitive environment, including competition to be the highest selling team and sales representative each month. The best part of the job was the people I worked with - fun and friendly who like to help each other."

"not much to say about the company, other than the fact that they had a pretty amazing commission structure. The issue being that it was unsustainable and led to them having to lay-off an excessive amount of people when COVID hit (including myself). thats what leads me to describe the CEO and management as irresponsible. few other minor issues in the way that the sales teams were set up that contributed to that, but nothing major."

"I worked for SBG for about three years. There are pros and cons, it really depends on the station for which you work. My station has great employees but managers are not great. Computers are also old, making it difficult to use the software."

"While this position & company has granted a lot of experience, there is little room for growth, compensation vs. responsibilities is poor, corporate is a Sales prevention team instead of being helpful, & the old school values are not relevant in a world where flexibility is valued."

"In sales, you are given your budget for the month 2 weeks before the beginning of the month. Budgets are unattainable. When budgets are not met, AEs are penalized with additional meetings, paperwork and micro management overkill. Proposal packages are created to benefit the station, not the client. Each year the commission structure is up for review based on annual station budgets which are rarely met. This means the commission structure they promise you upon employment can change. Additionally, Sinclair LOVES to find ways to keep your commission. If clients do not pay by a set date to a PO BOX address in Texas, AEs are not paid their commission. This PO BOX is the lone address for payments from ALL Sinclair stations in all markets. This means hundreds of thousands of checks coming in each month to one address. You can guarantee at least 20%-40% of that commission you earned will not be paid to you. Did I mention potential clients have to sign up for a payment portal? Clients can pay by credit card for a $20 fee. To most local direct clients, this is a nightmare. For agencies with heavy turnover, it's almost impossible to get changes made through this portal, which was not tested, it was launched in all markets at the same time, causing complete chaos. This should give you some idea of the thought process that goes into the many "programs" you must learn to be a proper AE with Sinclair. Between managing existing business, collecting payments, cold calls, meetings, reports, learning new software systems and digital products, creating proposals for potential new clients, agency makegoods, discrepancies and posts, it is almost impossible to get out of the office to make sales calls, which is the main purpose of the account executive. Low company morale. Avoid this company. Notice high turnover rate. Read the non-compete, you are trapped with Sinclair."
