SimpleTherapy Employee

"I cannot understate how damaging my experience with this company was. I am Health Coach and worked for Simple Therapy for 5 months. The company lacked organization, communication and was often chaotic. There are many reasons I decided it was not the right for me. I decided to apply elsewhere and ended up getting an offer for my dream job from another company. It would have been a life changing career move for me. When trying to give my resignation at Simple Therapy, the CEO offered to match my offer and simultaneously threatened me with enforcement of a Non-Compete Agreement if I decided to leave and accept the other offer. At this point, I could not recall if I had signed something or not. When I asked HR for the document, I was sent a document that was tampered with so as to make it appear signed. Believing I had signed an NCA, I told the other company (in good faith) that I was bound by a NCA and not surprisingly, they retracted the offer. When I met with Simple Therapy CEO again about matching the offer as promised, he basically reneged and offered me much less than a “match”. I was understandably upset by this verbal broken promise. The next day Simple Therapy sent me a termination email even though I did not officially resign. It left me unintentionally unemployed and I lost the best job opportunity that I ever received. It wasn’t until the damage was already done that I looked more closely at the NCA document and realized that it had been tampered with and never actually signed. I also had multiple attorneys review the document and found it unenforceable even if it was signed. Simple Therapy operates in California, Non-Competes are categorically unenforceable in California. Simple Therapy tried to get around this with using New York as governing law in their documents, however the way the NCA is written up it would be unenforceable in NY as well. Simple Therapy remains unapologetic and un-remorseful for their unethical, illegal and damaging actions."
