Depending on which industry a person works in, on an average day, a scientist may perform material testing, mix chemicals, make product designs, and consult with industry-leaders and business owners.
Skillset: Most scientists have a very strong chemistry and physics background. Research skills are very necessary and it is also important to have a thorough understanding of modern technology and the history of industry-related technology. They also are known for having excellent writing skills and are very detail-oriented.
Education: Most scientists have degrees in chemistry, scientific research and methods, and physics. Depending on what type of science field an individual is entering into, agriculture degrees, electronics studies, consumer science and astronomical science majors may be required. In many cases, advanced degrees such as a masters or a doctorate are advisable.
Career Path: A great foundation for a scientific career is based on a thorough understanding of the periodic table, scientific elements, scientific research and practical application of researched techniques. Courses in physics, biology, chemistry, animal science or geology are recommended.
