"That they would understand the products we are selling and learn to manage the direction more appropriately to our business"

"Oursourcing, horrible culture, hours were borderline slavery"
What do you like about working at Nielsen?
"They allowed telecommuting. Guess that's about all I can think of."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Unless you are desperate for a paycheck or are a career man/woman who doesn't mind giving your soul away to the company - DO NOT WORK AT NIELSEN. You will be utterly miserable."
What don't you like about working at Nielsen?
"Outsourcing to the max, so no job security at all, no matter how long you'd been with the company. Payraises eliminated a couple years before I quit. No work/life balance at all - 7 business days per week is what we were told, and most people had to work 7-day workweeks due to the unrealistic delivery dates promised to customers. No employee morale, and you would frequently get yelled at by some managers."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Try giving a rip about your employees instead of working them to death until you can find a way to replace them with cheaper labor or eliminate their position entirely. These people are HUMAN BEINGS. There are more important things than your bottom line, especially when you are already filthy rotten rich to begin with. How many yachts do you need"

What do you like about working at Nielsen?
"Telecommuting allowed. I also worked with some great people, but I can say that about any company I've ever worked for. That's about all the positives I can think of."

"Unless you are desperate for a paycheck or want to give your soul to the company - Do NOT work here."
What don't you like about working at Nielsen?
"No job security whatsoever - neverending rounds of layoffs/outsourcing of work. Payraises had ceased at least a year or two before I quit (and I always got good reviews). No work/life balance at all - you were told there are 7 business days in a week. Most people had to work 7-day weeks to try to meet the ridiculous delivery dates. Employee morale = horrible. Some people were ASKING to be laid off so they could just get out and get their severance, if that tells you anything. You would get yelled at by some managers frequently for virtually no reason. I was delivering all of my work prior to the deadlines, yet was being told I wasn't doing my job. Say what"

"Try giving a rip about your employees. They are not emotionless robots that you can work to death until you can find a way to remove them from your payroll. They are human beings."

"They allowed telecommuting and flexible work schedule. I enjoyed most of my coworkers. Alot of great people."

"Less opportunity to move upwards other than title ranking and learn other skill sets."

"None that matter at this time as it has been some time since I have been with company"

"Good atmosphere. Caring company. Compensates people fairly well for their efforts."

"Know your stuff and be prepared for the interview. May take more than one interview to get in the door."

"Commute is difficult. Located in White Plains and purchasing a home nearby is extremely difficult."

"Allow for more telecommuting options for workers who live further away."

"I learned alot as I am the only full time developer. working independently allowed my to use my skills to the maximum. Also been invloved in system development life cycle."

"The interviewing process with this company has radically changed over the last few years. I have no tips at this moment."

"Theyve been moving the software creation responsibilities overseas eliminating jobs."

"Do not leave bureaucracy kill thinking and creativity in fields where these are so important!"

"Run far far away. (That's probably why they are currently hiring workers living in the Philippines.)"

"The owner of the company has exceptionally poor communication skills along with a profound lack of leadership skills."
