Manufacturing managers work to ensure that a production and manufacturing plant runs smoothly. Many times, people in this line of work are responsible for employee safety courses, as well as being responsible for ensuring that quality standards are met and production quotas are met.
Skillset: Many manufacturing managers have a strong background in engineering, team supervising, quality control and production. They must have great management skills, know how to operate industry heavy machinery and production machinery; and they must possess an ability to perform strict quality control tests.
Education: It is common for manufacturing managers to hold masters degrees in industrial manufacturing or machine engineering or another closely-related field. Vocational technical degrees for mechanics and bachelor degrees in mechanical engineering and production are also helpful.
Career Path: A strong foundation for a good manufacturing manager is based on good mechanical abilities and knowledge. In addition to this, courses in mathematics, computer science and physics are recommended.
