"I do it for the benefits."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Ask for bonus or incentive pay for the favors execs will force managers to extract from you. i.e. There will be nothing mentioned at the interview about making deliveries."

What don't you like about working at Scotts LawnService?

"Mandatory overtime that pays out at a rate of around three dollars per HOUR. NOT three extra dollars: three-dollars-per-hour. That's the rate. You make 30K for a 60-hour work week."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Being out of town based they fail to compete well in the tight New York market. 30K pays your expenses in Ohio. You can not even cover a mortgage with it in New York."

"No way to make a living."

"GET A WRITTEN OUTLINE OF YOUR JOB EXPECTATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS OR ELSE MIDDLE MANAGERS WILL HAVE A FIELD DAY WITH YOU EVERY DAY SENDING YOU TO COVER THEY'RE DAILY GAFFS, OVERSIGHTS, AND BLUNDERS LAUGHING AT AND ENJOYING YOUR EXASPERATION THE WHOLE WAY."

What don't you like about working at Scotts LawnService?

"I worked sales and my family qualified for medicaid on this job mostly due to a dishonesty, disloyalty and lack of support from middle management. The Rockland (NY) Office had twice as many customers than they were set up to service but they accepted sales help anyway to please the corporate office. Execs lied about the hours and made evenings and Saturdays mandatory and found a way to pay LESS than minimum wage for those hours. avg $3.00.hrExecs changed our employment status to seasonal and kept it a secret from ALL of us new hires until we were laid off in October."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"They main thrust of your employment seems to be to make your middle manager/s look good even at your expense."

"Be willing to work above and beyond a 40 hour week, and be striving to excell at all times"

"Not enough face to face action with customers"
