"Top down management style by old-line newspaper vets stifles innovation and the ability to meet their customer's needs. Online (SFGate) also slow to adopt the tools necessary to optimize their ad offerings resulting in dated display and streaming offerings. A 50+ page rate card is unintelligible to both seller and customer. Internal working environment characterized by paranoia and high stress."
"I've worked at SFGate and SFChronicle.com for a total of 7 years in various departments and positions. I like the overall culture and I consider many of my co-workers now life long friends. However, there aren't very many opportunities for career advancement and positions, very strict in their job duties (mainly due to union rules). Technologies take a while to get updated but with management changing recently, this may also improve."
