Rosecrance Employee

"You really want to like this company. The employees are mostly kind and compassionate, the lower management is caring and helpful, but the company as an entity (basically HR) does not perform well. Right off the bat, HR will demand paperwork that they hired you without and then lose it and harass you again for the same paperwork 6 months later. They scare away anyone who wants to make a career out of working there by trying to push anyone who has been there a while into quitting. There are annual raises up to 3% and sometimes they skip them or delay them by 6 months. The longer you work there, the harder they try to make sure you don’t get paid more than the person they just hired. They do “across the board” raises for adjustment and they will bring everyone up by a few dollars an hour except for those that have worked for them for a long time. In a place like this, experience is truly what matters, but they say that is the last thing they look at when considering whether or not to give you a raise. Pretty soon after, all the experienced workers are training inexperienced workers (who get paid more than they do). And don’t fool yourself, it will happen in any type of position. So don’t plan on having a long term job/career here. There is no such word as seniority there. Mostly because the majority of staff on the units have worked there for less than a year. Counselors less than 5 years (and nursing is the same). This causes inexperienced staff to become overwhelmed and quit, leaving those with moderate experience frustrated, overworked and getting paid less and less after inflation. This problem with retention causes units to close down and sometimes even while facilities close down. Then they quietly try to nudge those loyal people into leaving. The job is taxing emotionally and the fake support from “staff appreciation events (which is probably where your raise ends up going) isn’t enough to keep people there. This is only a good job if you like high stress."
