A quality control inspector uses a variety of methods to check the quality of manufactured products and goods. On a typical day, a quality control inspector will check the quality of content produced by a manufacturer and file a report based on their findings. The report is analyzed and may be used to improve or change the manufacturing process.
Skillset: It is required that quality control inspectors have strong technical and mechanical abilities as well as excellent communication skills. They must also demonstrate an understanding of the products they will be in charge of inspecting.
Education: Most employers will require that quality control inspectors have at a minimum a high school diploma or GED. Some employers will require a degree or certification. There may also be a requirement for on-the-job training depending on the industry.
Career Path: Quality control inspectors must have technical and mechanical experience and be able to communicate efficiently. Pursuing an industry related degree will help increase desirability and promotional opportunities. Internships will also help increase experience and build up a resume.
