What don't you like about working at Gulf States Ready-Mix Concrete?
"A new General Manager was brought in that didn't recognize the talent that existed in the division. These talented people who were capable of excelling weren't given the chance. The new GM brought in his own people, and terminated me because I was making 25% more than any other plant manager with a virtually no loss in product production. The other managers had high percentages of product loss at production, yet kept their jobs becasue of their lower salaries. My successes in the logistics department in making record company profits only a year prior didn't mean much to company executives when it came to the budget chopping block."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Stop attempting to lure talent in from outside of the company and promote from within. Two key department managers that were brought in from other states didn't stay long after they realized the inner tormoil and resigned their positions."
