"PROS: Great experience by being the client-facing contact and can build a portfolio with earned media clips, press releases and social media statistics as well as other collateral materials. Building relationships with media. Salary was average, however no benefits are included aside from paying $70 a month for phone bills. While PMG is a great starting point for a career, the opportunities for growth are limited. Lower level promotions happen fairly quickly, but after the initial promotion it's very difficult advance. CONS: Upfront the outlook of a work life balance seems promising. However, office hours get changed regularly. Initially it was 9am-5pm, then became 8:30am-5:30pm. Also, summer hours were offered where the office would close at 3:30pm on Friday, but only if time is made up employees coming into the office at 8am on Monday-Thursday. In addition to hour changes, there was a lot of flip-flopping. Minor company policies - like bagel Fridays - were strictly upheld. When it came to more important issues - health benefits, health insurance, expense reports, employee moral - the issues were either overlooked, viewed as an irrational request or a quick fix was instigated that would last for less than two weeks. No bonuses were given because past employees had failed to sufficiently say thank you. Feedback was not well received despite numerous attempts to improve morale and help PMG live up to its potential. Furthermore, the wasn't an internal HR Department rather a freelance HR professional who also happened to be close friends with the partners, which dissuaded employees from connecting with HR. Overall, the hardest part about working at PMG was morale. It was constantly overlooked and on the rare occasion that it wasn't disregarded, it would be handled in an inappropriate manner or placated with a bandaid fix."
