What do you like about working at Peekay?
"The people were what kept me there so long. But, just like every abusive relationship, I had to get out before it killed me."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Just don't. You will regret it. Find something else, anything!"
What don't you like about working at Peekay?
"The pay is BAD. The recognition for ACTUAL success is NONEXISTENT (however there is plenty of recognition to store managers who do not ever make store goals, and are responsible for the majority of the companies turn-over, for suspect reasons). You will be over worked. If you have a family, say goodbye to them now, because you will never see them. And no, you won't be appreciated for your dedication to the job. The upper management is, for the most part, completely disorganized and not professional. There were constant rumors about the Director of Retail having inappropriate relationships with his subordinates. I never put much stock in them, until he promoted a store manager who had NO measurable achievements under her belt and did not even post the promotion or consider any of other managers who actually drive sales, exceed goals and keep employees. In this same round of turn-over band-aid, he also re-hired and promoted a former manager he was accused of having an inappropriate relationship with. The benefits are not very good.Upper management does not respect or value the customers or sales associates. It is shameful."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Value dedication and success. Listen to your front-line employees. Question suspect behavior from upper management. Don't talk about how much you CARE, show it!Pay your good employees what they are worth! My last full fiscal year, I increased sales by over 15% from the previous year, using new sales techniques I help develop using a customer-centered approach. I got a 45 cent per hour raise for my accomplishments, less than what I got for my annual raise as a Part-time Sales associate in years prior."
