"My highlights are our patients and their response to the environment we provide. They are surprised we are not so traditional - we don't have a typical "ward" style of pre-op and post-op. Often, as with anesthesia, their problems rise to the surface so often their time in PACU also becomes 'teaching' time. What's so cool about that? When they come in again they tell me "I heard what you said" and what they "did about it". Pain relief is not just physical pain from an injury or dysfunction, but also how the mind perceives its limitations. There isn't anything I dislike about my job, let alone "hate"."
