Regional Manager
in Chicago, IL

What do you like about working at On-Cor Frozen Foods?

"The autonomy I was given to run my region to attain goals and objectives. We maintained the family' run business attitude even though 2/3 of the company was sold and we became an limited liability corporation."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Not the company it once was due to the sale of 2/3 of the interest in the company in 2006. Today you could be a hero cashing your quarterly bonus check, tomorrow you could be unemployed even if you attain and/or surpass you quotas. I know, my last quarterly bonus check came 1 week after my job was eliminated in the company downsizing. Made quota but still lost my job."

What don't you like about working at On-Cor Frozen Foods?

"After 2/3 of the company was sold to OSI, we lost control of our business as we knew it and some numbers were committed with roll outs of new item line extensions that were not attained for a variety of reasons. Although retail distribution and pricing objectives were met, consumer support and product acceptance were less than desired and the roll outs failed. OSI, the new parent company, directed that On-Cor management downsize their operation and cut jobs. My job was subject to this downsizing even though I never missed my quota and made bonus every quarter. I felt this was unfair given today's economy. My release was not performance related and I should still be working at On-Cor."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Forecast real numbers and margins, not what the new owner wants to hear. Follow through completely with consumer advertising on all new product roll outs to generate consumer take away at the point of purchase. Strive to bring back the family feeling that made On-Cor so successful for so many years."
