"NRG Energy (and predecessor companies GenOn Energy and Mirant) was, without question, the finest organization I have worked for over the course of my career. Subject matter expertise was leveraged effectively across the entire fleet, driving individual locations to best in class levels of performance."

"If it wasn't for the other employees, it would be a poor company to work for, period. Since NRG has taken over moral is down, benefits suck. Lie about 401k contributions, vacation sucks. Pay is ok, but we are spread thin since the layoffs, with the same pay doing triple the work. CWO abuses coal and gas plants to fund his "green" energy products. If they spent half the time investing in its reliable fossil stations, they would be great to work at."

"I worked for Reliant Energy for 9 and a half years. Up until the acquisition or our company by NRG Energy, I enjoyed working there and there were many opportunities to move up and use many different skill sets. Reliant also offered work from home and different kinds of varying shifts (i.e. 4 by 10's and 9/80's). Once NRG brought us on board these benefits were discontinued and it was more difficult to utilize different skill sets in other departments."
