1.2One word, Horrible. Though the company is more than 50 yrs old, the management is almost exclusively rotational expatriates from Japan, who speak no English, stay for a few years and go back. All they care about is how they look from Japan. They don’t even know they have to care about local hires. It is like an old military system. One example, they put an individual in the top position in accounting at Head Office who practices as CPA with no qualified experience to be certified, and has no prior work experience prior to this company. He has no concept of how the work is to be conducted, or no respect to my works or schedules. Treasurer shows blatant favoritism to him: he only talks to the individual and does not see or care what is happening in accounting dept., and changes his mind for major issues. I talked directly to Treasurer, HR, and Compliance committee, but nothing has been done. The evaluation system is a joke. The chance is next to none that local hires get promoted to managerial positions unless you have very particular qualifications or win favoritism. Pay is quite low to begin with, and the raise is minimal so that you are poorer than the previous year. And you don’t get a chance for negotiation with your supervisors. After I got my green card in the company, I looked for a job, but because of my extremely low salary despite two post graduate degrees, CPA and CFA level 1 exam passed, and great work experiences, I have been treated like garbage by agencies. It is like falling into a deep hole you will never escape from. The company does not lay off so it is filled with people who have no desire or ability to go somewhere else to improve their lives. People inside nor outside the company do not see their jobs as a career. If you only want to fill up your time for little money, this company is for you. If you care about your career and life even slightly, stay away!
