The job of a network analyst is to build, maintain and secure computer networks. Network analysts can either run smaller business networks that only require basic file sharing and keeping a few computers online or they can be in charge of enormous networks that span multiple locations.
Skillset: Network analysts will need to know a multitude of network architectures and how to create and troubleshoot them. They will also have to be familiar with networking permissions, network security and have the ability to keep a number of computers and devices working properly on a network.
Education: Most network analysts attend a four-year college and receive a degree in Networking or Computer Science. However, there are many people that are attending two-year vocational schools and are able to find employment.
Career Path: Network analysts will need to have a strong understanding of basic IT principals along with in-depth knowledge of a variety of network types. This career requires ongoing learning because the technology behind networking is constantly changing and improving.
