Working at National Molding in Miami Lakes, FL: 1 Employee Reviews

Injection Molding Process Technician

"Poor management, Operators that are made to run upwards of 5 to 8+ machines making thousands of parts each machine per shift while inspecting parts and boxing. Company pushes RJG molding but in reality has no idea what that is or how to do it. Molds and machines are not set up to run RJG processes, But they will demand you to know RJG molding practices before hiring you. Patch and go molding with little to no parts available to keep worn out machines running. If you work as a tech, expect everything that happens on a floor of 99 machines to be your responsibility. 3 to 4 techs (usually less on off shifts due to techs leaving and not being replaced) working on a floor full of machines handling everything from repairs to ridiculous quality issues from an untrained quality department who have no idea what even the names of defects are or if they are acceptable, along with tooling changes and anything else that comes up. Odd schedule to allow for their 24 hour 7 day operation without paying overtime. Poor customer relations due to management not spending money to keep machines in working order and thus shipping bad parts to customers as overworked operators are made to inspect thousands of parts per shift and will miss things that happen like shorts shots due to poor processes and worn out machines. Locked out processes that are not allowed to be changed even if machine is running bad parts. Process Techs are not allowed to process. I could go on and on. Pay varies greatly between technicians. Basically they will try to hire as cheap as possible while others will be making twice as much as you do. They fire people at will. I can't count the number of people I saw go through the place in just a year. Material handlers especially. They have no training programs in place for any position and if someone makes a mistake they fire them. They believe people are totally expendable. This job offers no security and is more of a liability."
