"This position is definitely the next big step up from entry-level internship/tech positions. This position involves monitoring beach-nesting birds including Wilson's plovers, least terns, common nighthawks, and black skimmers, similar to many other positions found nationwide. However, this position is different in that it is a newer program, so protocol is still being established. Also, this field site is several hours away from the office/headquarters, so you must be much more self-sufficient than other similar positions. Be aware that it is very hot, and there are no beach-driving vehicles for surveys, so you must be willing to walk many miles on a hot beach, carrying your equipment! I definitely learned a lot and gained so much experience from this position."

Working at National Audubon Society in Elgin, AZ: 1 Employee Reviews

National Audubon Society Employee

"From a low/middle-management perspective: This organization is inherently horrible. They provide absolutely zero training on anything, even basic workplace sexual harassment, and there is an appalling lack of support from above. Personally, I think the issues are currently, systematically at the Exec Director level, but it certainly was higher up during the Yarnold years. With the base employee level unionizing and the salary restructure, middle management is the butt of the joke. The level of disrespect repeatedly shown to Center Directors is devastating and my experience with National and the upper management was disappointing."
