"The first years for any teacher can be very tiring. When I started as a teacher I was considered "lateral entry". This is a disadvantage write off the bat. You are not taught classroom management skills that are needed. I have spent 14 years as a teacher and last year was the first year I truly felt happy in a position. There are so many ways that teachers are disrespected by colleagues, principals, and students. The great thing about being a teacher is the lives you touch. We always hope that we make a difference in that student's lives, whether through education or your prayers. We are the mom away from home in many ways and we hope we are molding the children in a way they can make a difference in the world."
