Working at MultiCare Health System in Puyallup, WA: 1 Employee Reviews

MultiCare Health System Employee

"Serving vulnerable clients with severe and persistent mental illness with little training and inadequate support from management is a recipe for failure. There is a culture that encourages mental health professionals and mental health therapists to figure things out for themselves. Management responds to requests for support tacitly and passive aggressively. Mental health professionals and mental health therapists do the best they can, only to be criticized, disciplined, or even terminated afterwards. It is common for management to cite obscure policies, most which are not found in writing, to support criticism, discipline, and termination. Turnover is already high in this field. Management, job culture, and another failed attempt to unionize recently has led to a mass exodus of mental health professionals and mental health therapists. Management refuses to help by seeing clients. They prefer to spend time in their office joking with other managers/supervisors, texting or surfing the Internet, or taking time off regularly. The director was seen during the middle of the workweek in the midst of inadequate work coverage at the local spring fair eating scones. This is no way to model the values of the larger MultiCare Health System. Unrealistic metrics and managed care requirements round out the experience that is akin to slave labor. At least the health care benefits are excellent and there is fairly decent job security as long as you make no mistakes and stay ahead of metrics; it's also a great place to get clinical experience for entry-level mental health professionals and mental health therapists. Good luck and Godspeed if you decide to work here!"
