"Managers didn't get to become managers without being in the ranks and working their way up. Don't forget your roots!"

"I think that management is doing a great job. Keep living the values of the company like you do."

What do you like about working at Miles Technologies?

"Lots of room for growth, and they are always promoting from within. MT is very fluid and willing to take employee suggestions to heart. Lots of great people to work with and for, and there are opportunities to learn about almost any technology you can imagine, from Windows environments, virtualization, advanced networking, phones, etc. They're also the first IT firm I've ever worked for that is big enough that you're not forced to work nights and weekends if you don't want to. And if you do, they actually pay overtime!!"

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Be prepared for a lengthy process (I think mine was three separate visits) where your general technical skills are evaluated, following by skills specific to the position you're applying for and then meetings with the head honchos. TBH I got a little annoyed at not knowing that the process was so drawn out up front and at having to keep making up excuses to take time off at my previous job, but it was definitely worth the effort."

What don't you like about working at Miles Technologies?

"Honestly, nothing jumps to mind except for the commute. But it's not their fault I moved from 20 minutes away to over an hour away 6 months before I got hired."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"How about opening a satellite office in PA Pretty please"

"If I had to get nit-picky, casual fridays, for those of us who don't deal with customers face-to-face, would be cool."

"Not much I can think of personally - some people aren't cut out for the fast-paced and challenging environment here, but in that case, it may just not be for them. It is also great to be able to help other people accomplish more in their lives through our work - seeing them succeed through what we do is a great feeling."

"Be prepared for an intense and thorough process. It's for the better, to make sure the company and interviewee are truly a good match, but most people are not accustomed to the multiple tests, exercises and interviews."

"Sometimes decisions get made so quickly that it's difficult to keep up, but at the same time it forces you to stay on your toes."

"Relax and do your best. Take the tests seriously as you won't progress through the process if you fail to try on any of them. Be honest with interviewers. They are VERY good at catching lies and realizing you are telling them what you think they want to hear. In reality, they want your honesty and loyalty displayed."

"Workloads can get cumbersome at times, though management is always open to help if you need it."

"More open forums for discussion. There is a always an open door policy, but something more formal may help accomplish more."

"Miles is a great place to learn, grow, and hone your skills. They are looking for career minded people, and have had a problem with turnover in the past, so respond accordingly when asked."

What don't you like about working at Miles Technologies?

"The base pay was in the bottom quartile of the industry, in a state which is in the upper quartile for cost of living. Management seems oblivious to this, thinking they're offering 'competetive' wages. The small company atmosphere and generally young workforce mean Miles can occasionally be in their own world without realizing it. Sometimes that's good. Sometimes it's not good."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Move Chris out of Sales and into Operations. Sales is overrepresented in key leadership positions, which is a self-perpetuating cycle in most companies, and is even more pronounced in an IT company, where Operations is mostly comprised of less charismatic people. Chris is charismatic and dynamic enough to swing the entire dynamic one way or the other all by himself.Think of it this way; if the product is good enough, you don't need a hard sell. If the product quality drops enough, no amount of selling will succeed. Chris needs to be focused on product quality, not sales."
