What do you like about working at Texas Instruments?
"I was in process engineering and failure analysis. While at Texas Instruments they gave me more tools to work with than any other company offered. I was always surrounded by state of the art tools, techniques and high quality people."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"They like people who are aggressive and think on their feet. Once you get in look for positions where you are in the critical path. There they can lay you off."
What don't you like about working at Texas Instruments?
"The management is forever laying off personnel. They hire, then lay off. If it was not for the super advanced tools I worked with I would not have stayed with the company. My direct manager for 12 years was great."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Promote qualified persons based upon skills and not friendship. Stop the layoff cycle. There is plenty of offshore locations that don't do this and have much better luck."

"Newer engineers should be formally mentored by senior engineers."

"I liked my projects, the environment, benefits and all the people."

"The way that they handled the last layoff after the acquistion was terrible. I had a great record at the company and many years."

"Think about the employees and their future when you have layoffs."

"Work with a group very talented technical people except management."

"If you are young, don't plan to have a career at Lucent even if they give you an offer."

"Lack of career advancement, little job security and bad management (senior and middle level). The supervisor level is getting bad also but not as bad."

"Be honest and have courage to do the right thing."

"I dislike the job security. It is extremely difficult to transfer to different parts of the business."

"What is the future for National"
What do you like about working at National Semiconductor?
"National used to be a great place to work! People were actually into the electronics business. It was fun!"

"Shop around."

"Are they really still in the IC business? It is not obvious they have changed for the better."

"Find management that has their heart into the actual electronics business, National used to have such management."
