"Promises more than they will deliver to employees and customers"

What do you like about working at Materion?

"You get to work with great people on components for high tech items. The pay is less than competitive, but it is still money. You are heading in the right direction with allowing raises again, trust is not there though."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"I personally would not suggest working here until some changes have been made to the management. There have been a lot of changes due to the four rounds of layoffs, but none affect the areas that are causing issues. Such as the many projects that are going on, stressing resources, that are not progressing to optimized fruition. There needs to be better direction with qualified resources."

What don't you like about working at Materion?

"The equipment is out of date for the consistency, quality, and promises that Materion makes. The pay is in the lower 10 percentile for this region in Massachusetts and there are constant initiatives to reduce the take-home pay of every employee. There have been a total of four pay reductions over the past year, with more to come (for salary and hourly.)Management makes decisions and then worries about consequences much later, many directly affect employees. The general thought process is to do then think, with a lack of resources this thought process will lead to a demise."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Recognize total costs and not just book costs and think through all of your decisions. There is a lot of groupthink that pushes projects and initiatives along that should not be pushed through (you should look up groupthink.) There is no trust between the employees and management due to the deplorable decision making that has gone on."
