"I love being a Machinist because it thrilling. CNC Machinist is my forte I feel in life. I'm good at it. I suggest a lot of things that have made a difference. It's exciting for me. What I hate is I'm a women in a so called man's world. We don't get equal treatment or pay for the same jobs we do. We are not listened to in the same way. We don't get the same opportunities as the guys. It seems like they're picked over the women for special projects or special classes to better themselves. I want to learn everything about Machining and Electrical, and Mechanics, and I can't get there because no one wants to share any information in this business to help you succeed. It's a hard business to get ahead in, that's the truth. You have to have excellent conditions as to have great people with great training skills to teach people the skills that are needed to accomplish these tasks. Great patience and great plan to teach as well as learn the occupation in a professional manner. I hate it's not easy to find these jobs that you know you can do and are good at. I hate that it's difficult to just go to the companies and apply. A lot of times you have to apply online and that doesn't work out well a lot. They seem to be working with colleges that call all day long and it makes people not want to answer their phones because it bugs me to answer over and over some college office person with questions I don't care to answer. It's great to want to go to college but I'm looking for a job, not a class. I need to make money, not spend it that I don't have. I hate to have a boss who doesn't care about what you want to learn or don't give you opportunities to learn things, machining is a very technical field and challenging, and if they're not going to let you learn different things then you will never go anywhere. They claim equal opportunities but it's not, especially if its families operating and working together like father-son or cousin, nine times out of ten they will be chosen."

"The one thing I hate about being a machinist, is that I live in a predominantly oil drilling community, and when it gets slow in the oil field, it gets slow in machine shops, as machinists. Other than that I love being a machinist. I love learning and being a machinist, there's a lot to learn. I'm a very competitive person, and being in this field you ran into plenty of difficult situations."

"I love being a machinist. I just want an opportunity to learn all aspects of the trade. I want to learn programming, go to school, complete an apprenticeship, and earn my journeyman's card. I want to be able to earn an honest and good living and unless I have all the skills, it will be impossible in this field."

"I can't say I hate it. Some days I wish I could change careers but it's what I know. If I work a company and they are willing to give me more training then that would make it enjoyable. Looking to learn more for the future."

"My job is easy. Plain and simple. While some days it's great that it's easy; others it's not as fulfilling. I like to be challenged, and I like to feel that what I have accomplished was worth the amount of effort put in. I love the atmosphere though. It's laid back, and, for the most part, stress free."

"Being a machinist is a very tedious job. Either I was busy cleaning up oil spills, or just standing there for 10 hours watch bottles getting filled. There isn't really to much to say about operating a filler machine. It is a job that has potential since a lot of places use filler machines, but it isn't a very exciting job. Me I prefer a little more involvement rather it be hands on or problem solving. I've had worse jobs, but this wouldn't be my 1st choice."
