"The pay is above industry standards and at the benefits are good. That's about the only positive thing I can say. This company pretends to have a family atmosphere despite having far outgrown that and has absolutely zero corporate culture. The leadership showed their true colors during the pandemic by refusing to let anyone work remotely even though a vast majority of positions could be performed remotely without disruption."

"MAA is one of the best-kept secrets in the Memphis TN corporate world. They have grown from a company of 56 apartment communities in 2012 to over 300 in 2019, with over $15 billion dollars in revenue. The company has a dedicated staff and the executive officers believe in the established company policies, and practice them. They recently moved into a brand new building, just a short distance from the old one, in a prime neighborhood. They are having some growing pains now and lost a valuable executive to retirement at the same time its business was exploding. My job was eliminated to create a headcount for a management position that was needed. Now they have employees who are over-extended and are approaching burn out levels, which did not have to happen. I had excellent relationships with most all those I worked with, both within the company and with outside vendors. I've been told I am approved for re-hire and they have offered to help me in various ways with my job hunt. Overall, it is a good place to work. The hope is that MAA will create a strategy to provide a career path for all those within the company, keeping them engaged, and willing to continue to work hard at making MAA as successful as it is! As long as the company honors the company policies, it is a good place to work."
