"Beware the harbor master's constant bullying"

What do you like about working at Loggerhead® Marina Seven Kings Holdings?

"It's good that they don't have extended hours in the summer."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Hopefully your harbor master is a nicer one than mine and both respects you and treats you as an equal"

What don't you like about working at Loggerhead® Marina Seven Kings Holdings?

"While it is a corporation, it is extremely separate. Transferring to another marina simply due to proximity is nearly impossible. The harbor master at my marina is incredibly selfish to his assistants, refusing to grant paid time off if it interferes with his days off. He often appears to not know how to do many basic things. He has never called a customer, but would rather have the assistants do so, whether it is regarding billing errors he made, or anything else. He bullies everyone at the marina, dockhands, forklift drivers, assistants, even some tenants, or should I say ex-tenants. The turnover rate at this marina is horrible. The remaining employees cannot bring concerns to corporate confidentiality."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Pay attention to who you think is running the marina vs who is standing behind the scenes doing all the work. Please pay attention to complaints about harbor masters bullying employees and constantly mocking them. Also, occasionally re-do the Dockmaster training course for harbor masters, because some of them need it! Also, if a position at another marina is open, it should be first advertised within the company."
