"Local Corp. is a company adrift. It is not sure what it wants to be. The loss of previous management and regular cost-cutting layoffs has resulted in the loss of most senior managers and quality employees. Local.com has some lofty aspirations, but rather than working intelligently to come up with something internally, it throws money away buying '3rd party' companies and running them into the ground because it has no idea what to do with them once it has them. I cannot recommend working here."

"Local is a great place to get started on a career path. However, if you want a job to stay at for several years, this is probably not the place due to a lack of growth opportunity, regular layoffs and extremely poor management."

"Extremely poor management, mass layoffs quarterly, very questionable ethics, and extremely low morale throughout most of the company."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Listen to the lower-level managers and employees - they know what is really going on among and between teams. Stop putting all your eggs in one basket after another. Don't let one or two people control every aspect of the entire company."

"- Dress to impress! This company has a relaxed dress code but programmers, please don't show up in flip-flops"

What don't you like about working at Local Corporation?

"- Quarterly lay-offs- Departments are physically moved around building constantly, disrupting workflow and separating co-workers- Products are launched before development is finished- Contractors (even long-term hires) are denied all company perks, such a holiday parties and lunches out. This creates a class separation and workplace tension."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"- Fully develop products before launch- Your people are your greatest assets. Don't throw out the baby with the bathwater and lay off entire teams just because a product isn't an immediate success.- Contractors are as much the lifeblood of Local as regular employees are. Denying them the right to attend company events (many of which are cost-free) makes them feel like they don't belong to the very company they are working for."

"I sold my company to this company and I am glad to see my technology get to use by millions of people."

"Make thorough due diligence on acquiring other companies as it is important"
