"I wouldn't even bother applying. The pay is low and the bonus' are low. It's not worth the mental stress."

"I hated managment and the turnover rate of my lab. You were considered old if you were there more than a year."

"Hire Supervisors that know the ins and outs of the product. I was so tired of having to deal with obstuction from my boss because they didnt understand it."

"The group of engineers and biologists that I work with on a daily basis have gelled into a very cohesive unit to solve the product development problems we face."

"Immediately branch out beyond where you're hired into, this company prefers procurement rather than development of innovation. That leads to short lifespans for groups and projects internally."

What don't you like about working at Life Technologies?

"As I mentioned, political infighting is a problem and I'm not feeling particularly challenged nor do I see a clear career path forward."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I'd operate on a mid to long term vision rather than short term and I'd eliminate political infighting."

"The company had good intentions, and wanted to make a positive impact to society."

"Working for this company is not worth it, unless you're truly desperate for an income."

What don't you like about working at Life Technologies?

"Management was incompetent and showed favoritism towards informants and those who suck up (for lack of a better phrase). I had a supervisor who didn't even understand the basics of the production process, and I was never sure why he was ever hired. Leads and back-up leads are chosen not based on qualification, but seniority and ass-kissing. If a favorite did not follow SOP, it was considered okay. Management is terribly inconsistent, and does not hesitate to compromise employee safety. There was a pregnant operator working with formamide, for heavens sake!"

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Put employee safety and considerations first. Stop firing people or cornering people into quitting its not right."

"Company leadership is highly intelligent. Don't underestimate the people you talk to."

"Nothing - just interested in trying the consulting world. I wouldn't make changes here."

"If you can get your foot in the door; you will love working with the organization and its mission statement. The company is big on giving to the community and make sure that you have a good time doing it. Be honest that you are ok with working long hours"

"Extremely long hours with poor benefits and a weak human resources department."

"Have panel interviews; be honest and be a team player in using resources especially when traveling"

"Life Technologies has bright vision for the future and is developing its place within the the Biotech arena by leveraging the technologies int he company to give full system answers for consumers. The company also offers tuition reimbursement that I am taking advantage of by obtaining my MBA."

"Ensure that the day-to-day activities are discussed so the interviewee will know what to expect of the position. Words in job descriptions can sound different than true expectations of the job."

"My specific is very small and does not allow a lot of room for growth without developing new positions."

"When giving projects or tasks be specific as to what is needed and the timeline that they need to be completed in. Acknowledge a job well done via different company benefits available."
