2.8The Lamb Weston plant in Taber, AB has the tremendous potential to be a successful, world-class facility. Unfortunately, the facility is mired in old-fashioned business philosophy. This means the manager is always right and will fight your efforts to believe otherwise. Members of the management team have been there a long time and for some, it is the only large company that they have worked for. This means that the Lamb Weston philosophy is all that they know and they have little, if any exposure to 'real world' business practices.
Newcomers to management will find basic procedures unnecessarily administratively burdensome. Yelling at subordinates does occur by multiple members of the management team. Decisions are make by gut-feeling and contradictory data will be brushed aside and ignored. Expensive capital projects get approved and implemented with questionable return on investment. There are lots of closed door meetings.
On a positive note, the salary and benefits are quite competitive.
In summary, unless serious changes to the facility management team occur, the facility is to be avoided.
2.4ConAgra Corporate needs to come in and clean out the Upper Management of Lamb Weston. It will never grow to potential with the current management team.
Lamb Weston management has favorites who do not have the qualifications needed to get the job done. These favorites delegate their work load to people who can do the work, but they do not get the credit.
3.8I've worked for Lamb Weston for over three years and have found it to be a fantastic place for associate-level career growth. Lamb Weston is a well-established company that feels a lot like a start-up because of the recent spinoff from a large food company several years ago.
