"I started working at Kumon in the summer of 2020 right out of high school and it was one of the best experiences ever. I had a great time working for the company and would recommend anyone young have a go at it."
"Discussion about significant pay raises was hazy. Believe pay proportions from influent to franchise influent capital is pitiful. Felt my opinions were argued in capability of giving students adequate attention with one tutor for the whole 10 individual learner, 4 early learner classroom. Felt judged to an impossible standard against head tutor and veteran tutor as someone with no experience coaching and tutoring children. Did not feel positive regard or worthiness due to poor performance, compartments that should not hinder each other. Limited training for slow-learning tutors with lack of outside resources. Unclear coverage of job metrics during training, individual charts and the importance of Completion Time. Aura of shame discussing uncomfortable topic of possible dismissal and its dispute. Learning is judged by speed and precision, can be useful or unhelpful. Efficient communication of mentors can be interpreted as uncaring of tone. Observations on students and employees probably gives everyone stomach ulcers. Skill-based learning practice is true. Liked attached notes head tutor wrote on homework for guardians to read."
"If you are a former educator looking to join the corporate world, Kumon North America is the perfect opportunity for you. They invest in their employees by offering professional development opportunities. It is a bit difficult to grow because of team structure, and some of their social thinking is outdated. Overall, if you are put on a team under good management, you’ll have a great experience doing meaningful work."
"Great place to work part-time if pursuing further education. Easy and flexible scheduling and decent pay."
"Your mileage will vary depending on location, but I had a positive experience. You will tutor K-12 students in the "Kumon method" which are just lots of worksheets of varying levels for math and reading. If you like tutoring youth and can work with children, this is definitely a job you will enjoy. It's fairly laid back and straightforward work. Not too much room for growth, but it's definitely a good part time job for a student."
"I've only worked for Kumon for 5 months, and it really is only a entry-level job, no real human interaction, just grading papers."
"Kumon is a fun place to work temporarily. It is not a great company to look for promotions. The only promotions you can get is to become a center director. So, if you're not looking to own your own franchise, it is only a temporary position."
"The company is declining. The former President was fired and the new President is my former manager and a micro-manager. This place sucks. The CFO makes staff post fake positive reviews on company review websites."
"I've found this company to be very consistent disciplined with its curriculum and method's of teaching."
"I have worked for kumon for 5 years now. I enjoyed working with the children and the work environment was fun and laid back."
