Working at Jefferson Smurfit in Ravenna, OH: 1 Employee Reviews

Maintenance Electrician

"Not always a glorious job."

What do you like about working at Jefferson Smurfit?

"As a mid shift electrician, I had more freedom concerning how I did my job. My co-workers were a great bunch to work with. The machine operators were always glad to help you if they could."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If you are applying for maintenance work, expect the unexpected. Problems often come just as you are about to call it a day and you need to be considerate of your fellow maintenance-men and offer to stay and help. Your assistance will always be welcome and appreciated."

What don't you like about working at Jefferson Smurfit?

"Some of the work was very distasteful (ie. getting in a vat that made glue to clean it so you could repair it, or replacing lights outside in the freezing cold), but it was part of the job and was accepted. A couple of the supervisors thought they were better than everyone else and didn't have good people skills, but we took that with a grain of salt. Upper management there was fairly considerate."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Make sure that the workers are treated with respect, after-all, they are the ones that make the product that you sell. The better you treat them as human beings, the happier they will be and the better product and co-operation you will get. Just because they are hourly, doesn't mean they are stupid or don't matter."
