"The paper industry was shrinking and changing drastically with new technology."

"Keep the goal before them. Measure their performance by these goals."

What do you like about working at International Paper?
"Compensation is decent but trails some of their competitors. Recent acquisition will provide more opportunities, but expect the closure of more IP plants due to TIN plants being in much better repair with newer equipment."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"HR places great emphasis on diversity hirings. Negotiate your level and pay before accepting, once you are in they tend to provide raises below cost of living."
What don't you like about working at International Paper?
"Very political, hard to trust some of the management team. For all the effort they place in identifying future leaders the seem to overlook some of the best performers while promoting people who lack integrity."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Need to work on best practices. Our lean cost model may go a little far, but is much more controlled than TIN. However, from visits to their plants they are in better repair and have superior production capabilities. Practice greater discipline in the market place now that one of the strong competitors is part of our team."

"It has no room for growth unless you are willing to spend some time at corporate."

"The plant management is doing the best they can with corporate guidelines allow they to do."

"The ability to work with and voice opinions to all levels of management along with working independently but with the guidance necessary to complete special projects."

"Be sure to have a Bachelor's Degree when applying for any position, as it seems it is necessary for continued advancement."
What don't you like about working at International Paper?
"I am not fond of the amount of raises that were offered over the last few years. They did not even cover the cost of the increases in the medical insurance payments."

"While a person may not have a Bachelors Degree you should still consider them for a position because of their work record and experience that they bring to the table."

"Large atmosphere with a lot of different devices and software. This creates a lot of challenges and learning opportunities, which I enjoy."

"This is diverse company and has a lot of opportunities."

"It doesn't have any jobs for what I'm going to school for or for what I have new certifications in."

"Wish they had better health insurance, but still a great company overall."

"Get desired pay at start. Union only gives increase of 21 cents every July."

"The plant has a gloomy, dungeon atmosphere. Extremely humid year round with temperatures that exceed 100 degrees."

"Give employees the needed rest and time off. Cooling employees down on those 105+ degree months will increase production and reduce downtime."
