Senior Project Manager

"Beware the end of the year if you are a middle-aged, upper management-type (apparent corporate overhead) and not willing to put in 10-12 hours/day 5-6 days/week while forgoing any personal life."

What do you like about working at Hayward Baker?

"At the beginning of my career there, the company was mostly engineering oriented, challenging, rewarding, as a result successful and a great place to work. There was an entrepreneurial venturing partnership and attitude between employees and the business and that was supported as such along all management lines."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"They are now a totally cutthroat, share-holder- manipulated, money-making and claim-happy construction company. If they infer otherwise, they are lying. That wouldn't be too much of a surprise. Watch your back at all times. Especially from any actions taken by their relatively detached and commonly insensitive corporate employees. There are great people there, but they are fewer and farther between than in the recent past. Carefully choose your office and co-workers if at all possible."

What don't you like about working at Hayward Baker?

"The end of my career there seemed to be much more about making money and not paying attention to how they got there in the first place."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Get back to your roots."
